Vote or keep it to yourself....

I know I know....you don't want to hear one more thing about the election. I can't really blame you, this has been a never ending campaign season. That said, we have so much at stake this election! I had a conversation over the weekend when someone actually said to me that, other than the tax issue, it wouldn't effect me no matter who won the election. I was a little dumb founded at that comment. I feel that this election, like no other, effects us all. It is by far the most important election I have ever voted in as well as being historic.

I am proud of the fact that I live in a place where I have a civic duty to my country in voting. I take pride in learning about the candidates and their issues. I study the newspapers, watch the debates, listen to the pundits and try to make an educated choice. Sometimes that choice is the lesser of two perceived evils..... Sometimes I believe I'm better educated on the issues than the candidates...however

All I'm saying is....don't be one of those people who thinks that your vote doesn't count & don't be one of those people who think the results won't effect you. Let your voice be heard, whatever your choice is, whatever your political view, VOTE! If you don't, please keep your opionions to yourself....you lost the right to voice them.

THINK PINK

In these final days of Breast Cancer Awareness Month I've been reflecting on the issue. Do we know enough about this disease? Do we do enough to find a cure? Do we do enough, as woman, to prevent what we can?

When 1 out of 8 woman are effected by Breast Cancer, it's pretty safe to say that we all know someone who has gone through this. My family is no exception. The latest shock (yes, it is still a shock when someone tells you they have cancer) came just this month. The 38 year old wife of my step mom's nephew, Jenny, discovered she was already in stage 3 of a rapidly moving form. She is a bright, intelligent, loving, working mother of 3, that I'm quite certain has done nothing to deserve this news. Why?? Why in this day and age can't we do more to prevent these things?

If you are female, do self exams, keep those mammogram appointments, KNOW YOUR FAMILY HISTORY! We need to keep fighting this, we need to do what we can to prevent it. We need to know our options & be aware of our bodies. As Jenny found out, sometimes you know more when something is wrong than what will show up on a test. Believe in your instincts.

Lets keep fighting this disease. Keep donating for research. Keep the faith that we will find a cure. THINK PINK!

Who knows

I always felt like I should write something, like I had a story to tell. So why is it, when faced with blank paper, words fail me? There is so much going on in the world today it shouldn't be that hard to pick a topic & start writing.

In this world of email, texting & IM's, I have also found that I know longer remember how to punctuate anything - and my spelling has always been horrific. Maybe writing isn't my hidden talent after all.......

Something to contemplate I guess
